REVIEW ON ACACIA CATECHU BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS AND TH EIR BENEFITS ON HEALTH

Abstract

Excellent therapeutic research expansion emerged from the growing incidence of infectious diseases which motivates studies of natural products. The plant Acacia catechu (L.f.) Willd. which goes by the names Khair or Cutch tree has medicinal properties while belonging to the Fabaceae family. This investigation evaluates the future phytochemical compounds present in various A. catechu components and their demonstrations in biological settings and culinary utilization in food and beverages. A survey of available literature revealed that antimicrobial, antioxidant and antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and multiple pharmacological properties of Acacia catechu stem from its flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic acids. Additional study needs to determine any toxic properties of A. catechu alongside evaluations about its potential use in medical treatments.
